Try Spruce for Social Media Pictures

Spruce is a great way to add text to a photograph to use in presentations or for your Twitter feed. Visit http://www.tryspruce.com/ to start the process. There is a how it works button, but it really is pretty intuitive.

1. Insert your Text.
2. Pick your Font from the pull down menu
3. Search for a background photo or upload your own photo
4. Download your image or share it through Facebook or Twitter

Now you should have an attractive looking graphic for your presentation or social media needs. Give it a try!

What makes a Good Presentation

I get to give presentations from time to time about various topics in technology.  A few of them can be found on my Slideshare page. http://www.slideshare.net/scofire/

I get to watch a lot of presentations about technology. Some are great, some need a little help, and some I wish I could hand off to one of my students and say "here, make this better".

Came across this great blog post from Garr Reynolds from his blog Presentation Zen. It discusses a list his students came up with of Good and Bad Elements of a presentation.

http://www.presentationzen.com/presentationzen/2014/04/what-are-the-elements-of-a-great-presentation.html

Read that and also make sure to check out Don McMillan's funny presentation "Life After Death by PowerPoint". This is an updated expanded version of his original 2008 presentation. Worth your 10 minutes.

Lego Builder

From Publish your Design comes the free Lego Builder site. Very cool online tool to build Lego creations. Could be great for LEGO Robotics teams to design with before an actual build. There is actual Lego Designer software you can download but for a free online version this seems to work very well.

Make sure to also check out the 3D modeling site as well from Publish your design. Need to play with it a bit more to compare it to Sketchup, but seems pretty easy so far.
